When an insured hires an independent contractor (as opposed to an employee) to perform certain tasks or jobs, the Insured may become vicariously liable for acts of the contractor.
For an example, a furniture store needs its parking lot repaved. XWY paving is hired to do the job. During the laying down of the new asphalt, a passerby is injured.
