What is a Surety General Indemnity Agreement or (GIA)

[Question]

I have questions in regards to a GIA.

What is a Surety General Indemnity Agreement or (GIA) for ? Does your spouse need to sign the GIA as well?
Is a signature required for all owners even if one of the owners only has 10% interest in the company?
Do we have to sign a new GIA for each Surety Bond ?
Last thing will the surety wave the personal guarantee?
